Web Series Amplifies the Voices of Women

Web series From Here to There amplifies the voices of women and answers the question, How do I get from where I stand to where you are? The distance from here to there in human experience is closer than you think.

Do you ever wish you could go back and give your less experienced self a bit of advice? That’s ultimately the point of the web series From Here to There. If you can enlighten me and the audience, you might save a life, spare hardship, or bridge a gap. How do I get from where I stand to where you are? The distance from here to there in human experience is closer than you think.

I created the web series From Here to There in 2017 after a light bulb moment. Often I find myself in deep conversations with friends, acquaintances, and strangers alike. And it never ceases to amaze me when I hear things like, “No one’s ever asked me that before,” or “No one else cares about where I came from,” or “No one else talks to me about this kind of stuff.” What exactly do other people talk about?! Anyway, I end up uncovering life lessons in about an hour that these incredible women have spent many sleepless nights learning. (By the way, I’m not trying to exclude anyone, but my demographic is women.)

Here’s what I’ve discovered: every woman can teach you something, no matter how unremarkable she may think her journey has been. Most people want to share their stories (not necessarily on the internet) and they tend to feel like there was a reason they went through what they did if they can help at least one other person.

So back to the birth of the web series…I figured if others knew what it was really like to battle breast cancer, for example, they might feel more prepared or they might be more empathetic and helpful when someone they know is diagnosed. When we know better, we do better, right? So why not get this information out to as many women as possible?

Not everyone learns from others’ experiences, but if there’s a possibility that you’ll walk away having learned something after watching or listening to one of these conversations, I’m going to share it. And if you’ve followed me on Instagram or read my work, you know I’ll share my own trials and tribulations at my own expense, even if it’s considered taboo or embarrassing to do so.

I don’t have all the answers, which is why I believe in amplifying the collective voices of women.

So far, we’ve talked about the nature schooling movement; how music therapy can change the brain; how women can take control of their financial futures; how a doula can help new moms; what it’s like to live abroad; to survive breast cancer; to start your own business against all odds; to have a child with Down syndrome; to be a burlesque dancer; to go through a divorce; and how transformation is a critical part of life.
